Viewing the collections up-close at a runway show, presentation or re-see appointment is exciting, sometimes even fulfilling, but for a few collections, I wanted more. I wanted to know the whys and the hows and really dig into the geneses of the collections' concepts. And if there wasn't a driving concept but more of a laissez Coach Outlet faire, Coach Outlet "because it's what I like and that's enough" approach, I wanted to know that, too. Graciously, the three designers whose FW09 collections most piqued this curiosity agreed to share with me what I think is the most revealing step in the from-sketch-to-show creative process: first and last look selection. Enjoy. Yigal Azrouël:"My first and Coach Outlet Online last looks are usually my favorite. The first look really sets the tone and mood and aims to encapsulate the collection. For Fall 09, I chose a very signature pant from my collection ? the half denim, half leather ? to both open and close. The last look also showed a hand-beaded cropped jacket, which is very couture but shown in a more casual, cool way. I think that's an important point for my collections as a whole."   Yeohlee:"The inspiration for this collection's concept came from deejay Charlie Lewis'  Marathon Premium, "Count Me In!". The songs probably drove people crazy ?it was literally nothing but counting? but listening Coach Outlet Online to [that music] made me realize how I use counting in every part of my design process, and in today's economy, with the trend toward zero waste, how we're all counting now. My first and last looks, sarongs cut from the same pattern, summed up that Coach Outlet concept perfectly." Rad Hourani:"I wanted to start and end with very representative looks: black, modern, straight, sharp, timeless and free from any gender differentiations. I like to do [what] feels right to me and working with stylist Patti Wilson was a great add. Janete [Friedrich], my exclusive model, looked perfect in every look and we thought [the first one] was her best outfit to open the show with. I want  to make clothes that give the wearer a bold presence without looking contrived or overdone. The last look is confident and powerful, sort of like a weightless armor." Photos: Imaxtree Tags:
